Roles and Responsibilities of Fiber Optic Jobs
The Fiber Optic Jobs Splicer may be a skilled field position within the installation and repair of fiber optic cable, liable for performing splicing functions, either new new or new existing, once the cable has been placed then rearranging the prevailing cable. This position supports the Splicing team and works with personnel within the department.
Essential Functions:
1. Perform splicing of fiber optic cables, both fusion and mechanical, to incorporate terminating various sorts of connectors.
2. Install and test pressurized and non-pressurized enclosures.
3. Install and dress fiber optic cables, both vertically and horizontally.
4. Test and troubleshoot fiber by utilizing an OTDR.
5. Maintain fiber asset inventory and splicing records.
6. Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
